Storm at Sea
A tempest wafts through the sea,
And Poseidon in terrible temper;
The blue green hue turns grey
And every ship and fish is hampered.
Waves a mighty meter tall,
And sea spray everywhere does spew,
Thrashing at the gulls above,
Stronger and crueler than dew;
Caterwauls from a fishing boat,
Of sailor’s terror and fear;
And then the feeble catamaran
Does capsize with no shore near.
The little fishes of the ocean
Are swayed about against will;
Thrashing into corrals they do,
And over sandy hills.
Seaweed is torn out of the floor
And floats about on top;
Joining the kelp they do,
Slowly beginning to rot.
The sea calms down until
The waves are but a foot high;
The fishes gain their sense,
And in the water they fly.
